WinAlpine News

A couple of updates for you.

Club Applications
First off, club applications were due Dec. 1.  Remember, you only have to pay half now and the balance on Feb. 15.  IF you need extra time to pay, please just let me know.  High school racers, or MidAm  racers, you should join us as "weekend only" since you probably will be just training during the week with your hs teams.  The most important thing we need is the application so we know who is on our roster before we train or race.  If you misplaced your application, you can get one off of our website.

Race This Weekend
We are putting together our coaching staff for this weekend and will get a plan out to you soon.  If you are NOT racing this weekend, please let me know ASAP.  The schedule is posted on the Region 3 website, www.region3cussa.org.

Mid-Am Automatics
If you are a MidAm automatic, you still have to register and pay for each MidAm you are planning on racing.  You can find the automatic form on the Central website, www.ussacentral.org under Team selections, or follow this link http://ussacentral.org/index/cms-filesystem-action?file=fisselections/2009-auto-nubs.doc  This form is due Dec. 12, to Cathy Janowiak.  Her contact info is on the form.  You also need to email Kathy Janssen if you plan on competing by Dec. 12, for our Mid-Am.  If you would like to know how the selection for automatics is made or the mid-am picks, please go to the region website under "Important News", then Athletes born 1994 and earlier.

ENL Race (our region 3 Mid Am)
The ENL race at Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob is 12 /19 - 12/22.  To compete in this race you must have a current FIS license, must be born before Dec. 31, 1994, you can compete if you are a first year FIS racer, or a 990 FIS racer.  Registration (as stated above) must be in by Dec. 12.

Cannonsburg Training
We will be training Thursday, 5:30 - 7:00 at Cannonsburg.  It is free skiing only.  We will also train at Nubs on Friday, it will be slalom starting at 1:00.  I will have more training information for this week / weekend on Thursday.

Hi Everyone

Fall camp is in full swing, the brochures are going out in the mail today.

First, I want to alert you to a pretty inexpensive flight from Detroit.  Mike Thibideau (Asst Brother Rice coach) will be on it if you're child is an unaccompanied minor.  It is $269.20 right now - a great deal for a direct flight.

Depart Delta flight # 3164 Friday Nov 20, at 3:25 pm, arriving Denver 4:25pm

Return: Delta flight # 3149 Saturday Nov 28th 8:00 am depart arriving Detroit 12:51pm

In case you've missed the previous emails, we have some exciting changes for camp this fall
  • We have added four new coaches
  • Our group sizes will be limited to 10 (five groups of 10 with 2 head coaches and 2 assistant coaches per group)
  • Each group will have their own training arena to assure a quality environment, more training and personal attention
  • For GS we are combining two lanes to give us top to bottom (full mountain) GS
  • Three days are reserved for Loveland training which was very popular last year

We will be offering early sign up discounts again this year.  Pay in full by Sept. 30 and take $100.00 off of the camp price.

We have hired Austin Johnson full time this season.  He will be helping Craig Davidson during the week at Schuss and full time on the weekends.  We are very excited about this.

Currently, we are still working on our full time coach to help Scott in the Detroit area.  It looks like Brighton will be the area we train, Mondays and Wednesdays.  We will let you know the details as soon as they are finalized.

Dryland will begin in October.  More details on this later.

Club information is being compiled and should be out next week.

That is all for now.
